Equine Vet Wanted: Great Cases, Great Kit, and a Great Team. Powburn. Northumberland. Up to £65k DOE
You've got the experience. You’re a good vet, know your cases, trust your instincts, and you're done asking permission to practice good medicine.
Pair that with a genuinely friendly team, a privately owned practice where your opinion truly matters, with the freedom to shape your role around the life you want to live, and you have the opportunity to build a career that's every bit as rewarding as your time outside of work.
Welcome to Cheviot Vets.
Cheviot Vets are hiring an experienced equine vet (3+ years) for their independent ambulatory practice in Northumberland, a genuine mix of racehorse, sport horse and pleasure horse work, with a truck provided and salary up to £65K.
This is high-standard first-opinion ambulatory work with the equipment to match; you're not chasing a diagnosis with half a kit bag. Full digital X-ray, ultrasound with tendon, reproductive and repro probes, respiratory and gastroscopy equipment, motorised dental, all portable, all yours to work with on every call. Whatever challenges are thrown up, you've got what you need to do it well.
The team is small, independent and genuinely team-oriented, the kind of practice where your input shapes how cases are handled, not one where you're slotted into someone else's system. You have the chance to build your client list and nurture those personal relationships. On-call is a manageable 1 in 4, so the phone isn't constantly in your pocket.
What you’ll enjoy.
* Full-time. Up to £65K depending on experience
* One day a week is a work-from-home admin day.
* Truck provided from day one.
* 1 in 4 on-call rota.
* Paid CPD, RCVS and VDS fully covered.
* 30 days annual leave pro rata including bank holidays, and your birthday off.
* Mix of racehorse, sport horse and pleasure horse work with the occasional farm call.
Life in Northumberland.
Powburn itself sits right at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, on the edge of Northumberland National Park, one of the last proper dark-sky places in England, and about as far from gridlock and grey concrete as vet life gets.
Alnwick's twenty minutes down the road for shops, schools and a decent coffee, and the Northumberland coast, wide open beaches, Bamburgh, Holy Island, is a short drive east. It's the kind of place people move to and never quite leave.
So, what's next?
If you’re looking for a role where your voice matters, your growth is encouraged, and your life outside work is just as important as the care you provide inside the clinic, this could be the move that changes everything.
Send your CV (even if it’s not up to date) or reach out with any questions. They want to know the person, not just the paperwork.
The next few years at Cheviot Vets are going to be exciting. Why not help them write the next chapter?
