Equipment Technician
Location: Luton
We are seeking an experienced
Equipment Technician
to join a busy semiconductor manufacturing facility, supporting the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of wafer fabrication equipment. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll play a key part in maximising equipment uptime, troubleshooting complex faults, and driving process reliability. Working closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering and Equipment Engineering teams, you'll ensure critical production tools remain operational while identifying opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs. Key Responsibilities:
Maintain greater than
80% uptime
across key semiconductor process equipment. Diagnose and repair complex equipment faults, including
PCB repair to component level . Troubleshoot electrical, electronic and mechanical issues on manufacturing tools. Support technicians and manufacturing teams with technical guidance and fault resolution. Work collaboratively with Process Engineers, Equipment Engineering and Production teams to minimise downtime. Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives. Assist with planned maintenance, equipment upgrades and improvement projects. Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and technical documentation. Liaise with OEMs, subcontractors and service engineers during equipment repairs and installations. Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with cleanroom and site procedures. What We're Looking For:
Essential:
HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, Electronics, Science, Materials Science or a related discipline. Strong fault-finding experience on complex manufacturing equipment. Ability to diagnose and repair
electronic PCBs to component level . Excellent electronics knowledge with hands-on troubleshooting skills. Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to carry out equipment maintenance and mechanical repairs. Proven problem-solving skills within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Experience documenting maintenance procedures and technical processes. Ability to work effectively with suppliers, contractors and cross-functional engineering teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Desirable:
Experience within a
semiconductor wafer fabrication
or cleanroom manufacturing environment. Knowledge of wafer fab process equipment. Experience supporting
Epitaxy, Ion Implant or Passivation
equipment. Experience with Lean Manufacturing,
