Estimator – Civil Engineering Location: Accrington Salary: Competitive + Benefits We are recruiting on behalf of a growing civil engineering contractor based in Accrington for an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects who is looking to play a key role in securing and delivering a diverse portfolio of works. The Role Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a range of civil engineering projects. Key responsibilities include: * Reviewing tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and contract documents. * Producing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions. * Obtaining and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers. * Identifying risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions. * Preparing take-offs and bills of quantities. * Liaising with clients, consultants and the wider commercial team. * Attending pre-tender and post-tender meetings. * Maintaining accurate records of estimates and tender outcomes. Requirements * Previous experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering sector. * Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods and costs. * Experience pricing projects including highways, infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, utilities, public realm or Section 278 works. * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. * Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills. * Strong communication and negotiation abilities. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software. Desirable * HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. * Experience working for a main contractor or specialist civil engineering contractor. * Knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
