Estimator South Wales Permanent salary + benefits package An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a growing civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering a range of projects across South Wales and the wider UK. The successful candidate will play a key role within the pre-construction and commercial team, preparing competitive and commercially robust estimates and tenders for civil engineering, utilities and infrastructure projects. This role would suit an Estimator with a strong contractor background who is looking to join an ambitious business with an expanding workload and opportunities for long-term progression. Experience within the water, utilities, civils or infrastructure sectors would be highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities * Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for civil engineering and infrastructure projects. * Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scope of works. * Analyse project requirements and identify potential risks, opportunities and commercial considerations. * Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and other project costs. * Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. * Develop detailed bills of quantities and pricing schedules. * Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing. * Work closely with the commercial, operational and pre-construction teams throughout the tender process. * Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative construction methodologies. * Assist with the preparation of tender submissions and supporting documentation. * Attend tender meetings, site visits and clarification meetings where required. Candidate Requirements * Previous experience working as an Estimator within civil engineering, construction or infrastructure. * Contractor-side estimating experience. * Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project delivery. * Experience pricing labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages. * Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation. * Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to strict deadlines. * Strong communication and negotiation skills. * Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel. Desirable * Experience within water, utilities, highways or infrastructure. * Experience working on NEC3 or NEC4 contracts. * Experience pricing frameworks and term contracts. * HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline. * Experience using estimating or quantity surveying software. * Experience working with utility clients or major infrastructure frameworks.
