This is a fixed-term position, starting in September 2026 – March 2027 to help support on a range of exciting events.

The role

To develop and organise a diverse portfolio of events and administer an engaging and innovative package of commercial RZSS Edinburgh Zoo experiences.

Ensure commercial events and experiences are efficiently administered, monitored, evaluated & that they fit with the RZSS vision and mission.

Some of the things you’ll do:

  • Support and administer Edinburgh Zoo commercial events and experience programme, e.g. managing/delivering sections of larger events such as Edinburgh Zoo’s Giant Lanterns and other seasonal events for Halloween, Christmas and Valentines Day.
  • Work collaboratively with the Events and Experiences team and wider departments to oversee the install, maintenance and de-rig of the Giant Lanterns event.
  • Event duty management, including evenings and weekends.
  • Provide first-class customer service by ensuring our customers receive a personal, knowledgeable and positive level of service on a daily basis.
  • Report on and manage sales for the Giant Lantern of China event.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the best possible visitor experience in respect of events & experiences, in line with best practice and agreed standards, conveying RZSS key conservation messages to enhance experience and sales, e.g. contract caterer, Living collections and with the admissions/retail, marketing, IT and digital teams in respect of the sales and promotion of events & experiences.
  • Responsible for monitoring and evaluating visitor feedback on experiences and commercial events, including monitoring budgets (meeting targets) and delivering accurate report on event progress as directed.
  • Working alongside the Events & Experiences Manager to develop and deliver new and innovative commercial events, e.g. thinking commercially to maximise events & experiences sales opportunities – adapting to seasonal changes and changes in visitor behaviour/profile.
  • Liaise with colleagues across RZSS to ensure they, and your team, are kept informed of any potential impacts on their, and your, areas of responsibility about event & experience activities & projects, e.g. Highland Wildlife Park to ensure experiences booking procedures are coordinated and consistent.

What we’re looking for:

  • Good achievement at Higher Grade level (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent.
  • Accurate numerical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
  • Engaging customers empathetically to link or upsell our products.
  • Good working knowledge of microsoft office (outlook, word, excel and other IT packages/systems).
  • Assertive communicator, confident in dealing with queries from internal and external sources.
  • Experience in event coordination
  • Experience of working with minimal supervision, demonstrating good organisational and planning skills
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment
  • Experience of providing first class customer care and service, including dealing with customer queries
