The Role Reporting directly to the CFO and leading a small finance team, this role holds end-to-end ownership of the revenue cycle, from order through to invoicing, deferred revenue and recognition, alongside ownership of the ERP system, month-end close, management reporting, statutory compliance and the company's wider tax affairs, working closely with external advisors.
This is a genuinely broad, hands-on Financial Controller role suited to someone who wants real ownership rather than a narrow, siloed remit.
Key Responsibilities Own the end-to-end revenue recognition process, deferred revenue schedules and recognised revenue, ensuring accurate treatment across multi-currency subscription contracts Authorise and resolve complex billing scenarios: upgrades, mid-term contract changes, billing frequency changes and credit notes Own the month-end close and review monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow) Deliver monthly management reporting for executive review, including investor reporting packs Maintain balance sheet integrity: accruals, prepayments, FX revaluations, payment processor reconciliations and intercompany accounting Own and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures and the wider control environment Lead the business through external audit, owning the auditor relationship and process documentation Ensure statutory accounts and Companies House filings are completed accurately and on time Work with external tax advisors on corporate tax, VAT and sales tax compliance, with oversight of quarterly VAT returns Lead the annual R&D tax credit claim and liaise on grant applications Oversee monthly payroll and commission calculations, providing technical review and approval Lead, coach and develop a small finance team, supporting their professional studies and development Document processes and cross-train the team to reduce key-person dependency The Person Essential: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in industry Prior in-house experience in a SaaS or subscription-revenue xwzovoh business, with direct ownership of revenue recognition Experience leading or playing a central role in external audits from the company side Experience in a small or fast-growing business where processes need to be built and scaled Experience managing and developing a small team Desirable: Multi-entity, multi-currency experience, particularly UK/North America Experience with EMI schemes, cap table administration or investor reporting Strong ERP experience, NetSuite strongly preferred Why Apply Fully remote working with a home office allowance Personal and wellbeing development allowance Flexible working Competitive salary Genuine career progression opportunities For more information on this role, or any other Accountancy and Finance position, please contact Gemma Murphy.
