Do you want a role where your decisions genuinely keep people safe? Looking for a leadership position where you can shape fire safety across thousands of homes - not just tick boxes or chase contractors?

This major Welsh housing provider manages around 15,000 homes across south‑east Wales and is recruiting a Fire Safety Team Leader to strengthen their in‑house compliance function. If you're motivated by improving standards, leading people well, and delivering a gold‑standard fire safety service, this is a role with real purpose and long‑term stability.

About the role

You'll lead a team of Fire Safety Technicians and Fire Safety Electrical Engineers, ensuring statutory fire safety requirements are met across a large and diverse housing portfolio. You'll oversee fire risk assessments, manage remedial actions, run inspection programmes, support contractors, and help shape fire safety strategy across the organisation.

This is a role where you'll influence how fire safety is delivered, improve systems and processes, and make sure residents live in safe, compliant homes.

Day‑to‑day, you'll be:

  • Leading and developing a team of 8 fire safety specialists, ensuring performance targets are met
  • Supporting the Fire Safety Manager and deputising during periods of absence
  • Managing an annual budget of around £600k and planning future requirements
  • Overseeing the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme, validating significant findings and allocating remedial actions
  • Ensuring all FRA actions are completed within set timescales and recorded accurately
  • Escalating complex or high‑risk issues appropriately
  • Developing and maintaining a fire door inspection database and programme
  • Managing inspection programmes including fire doors, emergency lighting, alarms and detection systems
  • Assisting with fire strategy development for all premises
  • Researching and developing specifications for fire safety projects and providing assurance to internal teams
  • Leading contractor meetings, producing minutes and allocating actions
  • Maintaining the compliance database and producing executive‑level performance reports
  • Contributing to policy development, process improvement and cross‑team collaboration
  • Working safely and following all health & safety procedures

What you get

  • £46,716.47 salary
  • Permanent, full‑time role
  • SMART working
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays, rising to 30 days after 3 years
  • Enhanced pension scheme with employer contributions up to 12%
  • Flexible benefits package (£625 to spend on benefits such as private medical, health cash plan, EV scheme, professional memberships)
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Strong wellbeing support and Employee Assistance Programme
  • A stable, ambitious organisation focused on doing the right thing for residents and communities
