Freedom of Information (FOI) Manager
Job summary
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Manager role will support the Information Governance Team to ensure that there is an effective FOI function in place, which meets the MSEFT statutory requirements and complies with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Main duties of the job
The main aspects of the role will be:
To implement and manage Freedom of Information activities and ensure effective communication of FOI Practices.
To ensure that all Freedom of Information requests are handled appropriately and that correct and accurate information is released, within the allocated timeframes.
To assist and support with effective operation of the Freedom of Information function across the Trust and to ensure that statutory obligations are met.
To actively participate in service development and improvement.
To be responsible for the compliance of relevant elements of the Information Governance Toolkit, surrounding legal requests for information.

Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Relevant FOI training / Certificates
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of handling FOI requests.
- Excellent knowledge and practical implementation of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
- Good understanding of Information Governance.
- Experience of working within the NHS or similar large multi- disciplinary organisation.
- Experience of data analysis and report writing.
Communication Skills

- Excellent written and oral communication skills with a broad range of stakeholders.
Personal skills
Essential
- Proven ability to work and multi-task under pressure, respond quickly to changing situations in complex project environments, prepare responses/narrative quickly and clearly and use personal initiative.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work autonomously.
- Analytical and negotiating skills.
