Functional Skills Tutor

Location: HMP Brixton Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per year Hours: Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–5:00pm | Friday: 8:00am–12:30pm Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent AE Talent Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider for a Functional Skills Tutor based at HMP Brixton. This is a fantastic opportunity to help adult learners gain the English skills, confidence and qualifications they need to secure employment and build brighter futures. You'll deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills English and Maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 in a supportive prison education environment, working with small classes of up to 12 learners. What You'll Be Doing * Deliver engaging Functional Skills English and maths lessons (Entry Level 1–Level 2). * Teach groups of up to 12 learners. * Carry out initial assessments using BKSB. * Develop and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). * Plan engaging lessons that support learner achievement. * Prepare learners for assessments and examinations. * Support learners with additional learning needs. * Work closely with prison staff and education colleagues to maximise learner success. What We're Looking For * Level 3 qualification in English and Maths * Level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS/DiT or equivalent)or willingness to work towards one * Experience delivering Functional Skills English. * Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills. * Excellent communication and organisational skills. * Passion for helping learners achieve their full potential. Desirable * Experience in prison education, Further Education or Adult Learning. * Experience using BKSB. * Knowledge of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF). * Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification.
