Are you an experienced operational leader with a strong commercial background in street lighting, highways or infrastructure?
We are recruiting for an experienced General Manager to lead the delivery of a major Street Lighting Term Service Contract across Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile contract, leading operational delivery while driving commercial performance, client satisfaction, safety and continuous improvement.
The Role
You will have overall responsibility for delivering street lighting maintenance, capital investment projects and third-party works across the region. Working closely with the client and senior stakeholders, you will ensure contractual obligations are met while leading and developing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the operational delivery of maintenance, capital works and third-party projects.
Take full responsibility for contract performance, budgets, forecasting and P&L.
Build and maintain strong relationships with the local authority client and key stakeholders.
Ensure KPIs, service levels and contractual obligations are consistently achieved.
Lead, motivate and develop managers, supervisors and operational teams.
Promote a strong health, safety, environmental and quality culture.
Drive continuous improvement, innovation and operational efficiencies.
Produce financial and operational performance reports.
Support future business growth through client engagement and tender support.
About You
You will have:
Significant experience managing street lighting, highways, utilities or infrastructure contracts.
Proven experience with contract P&L management and commercial responsibility.
Experience working with local authority or public sector clients.
Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
A proactive approach to health, safety and continuous improvement.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
Essential Requirements
SMSTS (or equivalent)
Relevant CSCS Card
Full UK Driving Licence
