Job summary

Isca Medical Centre is looking for a Salaried GP or GP Retainer to join our established practice in Caerleon. We care for around 9,300 patients across our Caerleon and Ponthir sites and have a friendly, experienced team with a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

We are offering 24 sessions per week, making this an ideal opportunity for a GP Retainer or a GP looking for a flexible, part-time role. We can offer flexibility around working days and a supportive environment in which GPs are valued as part of the wider practice team.

Salary: £10,000£12,500 per session, per annum.

Main duties of the job

The successful GP will provide safe, effective and patient-centred care to our practice population. Main duties will include face-to-face and telephone consultations, managing acute and long-term conditions, reviewing results and clinical correspondence, making referrals, prescribing safely and completing associated clinical administration.

The GP will work closely with the wider practice team and contribute to clinical meetings, safeguarding, quality improvement and the ongoing development of services.

Job responsibilities

The postholder will provide the full range of general medical services to the practice population, including face-to-face and telephone consultations, the assessment and management of acute presentations and long-term conditions, and appropriate preventative care.

The role includes reviewing pathology results and clinical correspondence, making referrals, issuing prescriptions, undertaking home visits where clinically necessary and maintaining accurate, timely clinical records. The postholder will be expected to manage their clinical workload safely and seek advice or support when required.

As part of the wider practice team, the postholder will contribute to clinical meetings, safeguarding, prescribing reviews, audit and quality improvement. All work must be carried out in accordance with GMC standards, practice policies and relevant local and national guidance.

Essential

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice

Desirable

  • Inclusion on the All Wales Medical Performers List

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in UK general practice, including experience gained during GP specialty training
  • Experience of managing acute illness and long-term conditions
  • Experience of safe prescribing, referrals and clinical administration
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary practice team
  • Experience of safeguarding children and adults at risk

Desirable

  • Competent in the use of primary care clinical systems
