General Practitioner

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leeds, a category B men’s prison based in Leeds, Yorkshire. HMP Leeds is a remand prison with a fast paced healthcare department that provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Within this role you will be running clinics in the day and evening receptions supporting with the intake of new patients; this will require support with same day medications, acute needs and substance misuse withdraw plans.
Hours
The site currently offers sessions on:
- Tuesday & Friday : 8:00 - 21:00, 13:00 - 21:00 or 17:00 - 21:00
- Saturday: 13:00 - 17:00
We offer flexible working and are happy to discuss either individual 4‑hour sessions or a combination of sessions to suit your needs.
This position is part time working 26.5 hours per week.
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary from £126,500 per annum or £83,806 pro rata - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
- Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, further developing your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice, or even an A&E environment.
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- Provide highly specialist resources to other members of the healthcare team at site, and involve patients in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements
- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
