Enjoy making a real difference to pupils progress and confidence? A welcoming Southwark primary school is looking for a General Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS1 and KS2.
About the Role:
We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, inclusive primary school in Southwark for a General Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 on a full-time, long-term temporary basis.
You will work as part of a well-established inclusion team, splitting your time between classroom support, targeted booster groups and 1:1 SEND support, so no two days will look quite the same.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supporting class teachers with the delivery of lessons across KS1 and KS2
• Supporting pupils with SEND, including those with an EHCP, on a 1:1 or small-group basis
• Delivering booster and intervention groups in literacy and numeracy
• Adapting resources and activities to meet individual pupils needs
• Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress against intervention and IEP/EHCP targets
• Liaising closely with the SENCO and class teachers on pupil progress
Requirements:
To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:
• Experience supporting primary-aged pupils, ideally including SEND experience
• Confidence delivering structured interventions (e.g. phonics, reading, or numeracy catch-up)
• A patient, encouraging and flexible approach to supporting pupils
• A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
• The right to work in the UK
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one)
What the School Can Offer:
• A well-established, supportive inclusion team
• Variety across classroom support, interventions and 1:1 SEND work
• A welcoming, inclusive school community
• Ongoing training in SEND and intervention strategies
• Good transport links across Southwark and into central London
