£55-65 per hour

Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for a fantastic opportunity for a Governance Lawyer at a reputable Local Authority based in the East Midlands. This a locum position, offering remote working and the liklihood of a long term contract.

The successful interim Governance Lawyer will support on a range of governance matters across the Council, including but not limited to:

Advising on the legal requirements and limitations of a committee system of governance (including area committees)

Advise committees and Full Council around lawful decision-making and good governance.

Assist with the handling of complaints relating to the member code of conduct and the Police and Crime Panel

Advising on the legal requirements of the Council's constitution and contributing to a review of the constitution

Contributing to/advising on/reviewing/drafting policy documents and protocols connected with the operation of the constitution and the committee system

Advising on local government constitutional and administrative law

Attending meetings as required

The successful Governance Lawyer will have previous local authority experience of constitution and governance matters.
