This newly created partnership opportunity offers the chance to combine excellent clinical practice with meaningful involvement in the future development of primary care services in Kendal.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking GP Partner to join our established and successful team in Kendal, on the edge of the Lake District National Park.

This is not a replacement vacancy. As part of our long-term strategic vision, we are looking to strengthen and expand our partnership team by appointing an additional GP Partner who will help shape the future direction of the practice and contribute to the continued development of services for our patients and local community.

Main duties of the job

We would particularly welcome applications from experienced GPs who:

  • Have a strong background in modern primary care
  • Are interested in partnership and long-term leadership within general practice
  • Enjoy collaborative working and contributing to strategic decision-making
  • Have experience of, or a keen interest in, developing additional clinical services
  • Have a particular interest in helping grow and expand our ENT service provision, alongside exploring other opportunities to enhance local patient care

We are a two-site, part-dispensing training practice serving approximately 17,100 patients across Kendal and the surrounding area. We have a well-established multidisciplinary team, strong PCN relationships and an excellent reputation for delivering patient-centred care.

Job responsibilities

Play a lead role in the practice

Work with and provide support for other members of the primary health care team

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting clinical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate

Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well wider guidance such as that from NICE

Ensure appropriate follow up of patients

Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards

Participate in clinical audits, and learning event analyses and practice meetings

Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions avoiding hand-written prescriptions.

Prescribe generically whenever appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • The applicant must be a qualified GP with full GMC registration licence to practice, on a performers list and have a UK drivers licence

Experience

Desirable

  • *Experience of working in a GP practice using EMIS
  • *Trained as Educational Supervisor
