Job Title: Graduate Supplier Quality Engineer Location: Greenford, 40 hours per week Reports to: Head of Supplier Quality

About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to begin their career in Supplier Quality within a world-class manufacturing environment. As a Graduate Supplier Quality Engineer, you will support the Supplier Quality team in ensuring that supplier processes, systems, and products consistently meet Brompton's quality requirements and customer expectations. Working closely with suppliers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams, you will develop a strong understanding of supplier quality management, problem-solving methodologies, and continuous improvement techniques. Through structured training and hands‑on experience, you will contribute to supplier performance improvement, new product introduction activities, and quality assurance initiatives, while building the skills required to become an independent Supplier Quality Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • General and Task Management
  • Support supplier quality activities across the supply chain to ensure components and materials meet Brompton quality standards.
  • Assist with supplier audits, assessments, and approval processes under the guidance of experienced Supplier Quality Engineers.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, supporting supplier readiness and production validation activities.
  • Collect, analyse, and report supplier quality performance data, including non-conformances, PPM, delivery, and corrective action metrics.
  • Support root cause investigations using structured problem‑solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Assist suppliers in implementing corrective and preventive actions and verify effectiveness.
  • Support first article inspections, PPAP submissions, and product approval activities.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to understand product specifications, manufacturing processes, and critical quality characteristics.
  • Help maintain quality documentation and ensure records are accurate and compliant with company standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on reducing defects, improving supplier capability, and enhancing process performance.
  • Learn and apply quality tools and methodologies including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Support supplier visits where required to gain understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems.
  • Present findings and project updates to stakeholders as part of your professional development.

Desirable Knowledge

Knowledge or exposure to any of the following would be advantageous, but training will be provided:

  • Quality management systems (ISO 9001)
  • APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA or SPC
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Manufacturing processes such as machining, metal forming, assembly, or plastics processing
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Basic measurement techniques and inspection methods
  • Data analysis using Excel or similar tools

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline (obtained within the last 2 years or expected before starting). Strong academic understanding of engineering fundamentals. Demonstrated interest in manufacturing, quality, or supply chain management through projects, internships, placements, or extracurricular activities. Desirable Industrial placement, internship, or project experience within a manufacturing environment. Exposure to quality engineering tools and methodologies. Understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems. No previous Supplier Quality experience is required. Full training and development will be provided.
