Groundworks Manager – Major Mixed-Use Project
London | CIS Contract | 6–12 months
Blackmount Recruitment is working with a well-established main contractor delivering large, complex mixed-use developments across London. They are looking to appoint an experienced Groundworks Manager to oversee and coordinate substantial groundworks packages on a major live scheme.
This is a hands-on site management role for someone who can lead groundworks teams, drive programme performance and maintain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
Key responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate directly employed and subcontract groundworks operatives across the project.
* Oversee day-to-day groundworks activities including drainage, excavation, foundations, concrete works, external works, utilities and associated civils.
* Plan labour, plant and materials to ensure works are delivered safely and in line with programme.
* Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, engineers, surveyors and subcontractors to resolve site issues and maintain progress.
* Ensure works are completed to the required drawings, specifications and quality standards.
* Carry out regular site inspections, briefings and toolbox talks.
* Monitor productivity, sequencing and short-term programmes, identifying risks before they impact delivery.
* Maintain strong health, safety and environmental standards across all areas of responsibility.
* Support the coordination of interfaces with superstructure, MEP, façade and external works packages.
What we are looking for
* Proven experience as a Groundworks Manager, Groundworks Supervisor, General Foreman or similar on major construction projects.
* Strong background delivering large-scale groundworks and civils packages within a main contractor or reputable specialist groundworks contractor.
* Experience managing and motivating sizeable teams of groundworkers and plant operatives.
* Exposure to major mixed-use, residential, commercial, regeneration or high-rise schemes.
* Strong understanding of drainage, utilities, concrete, excavation, temporary works interfaces and external works.
* Confident reading drawings, coordinating site activities and working to demanding programmes.
* SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid required; Temporary Works awareness would be advantageous.
