Job summary

The CAD Technician provides Estates and Facilities support for the shared estates service, serving the needs of the Lincolnshire Community and Hospital Group (LCHG).

Assisting the Assets, PPM and CAD Manager and other stakeholders; ensuring that the LCHG CAD drawings are available and up-to-date, and 'as built' and 'as installed' drawings are obtained for all new construction projects. To provide wayfinding capability by the creation of detailed floor plans / models enabling visualisations for the use of space and how individuals navigate their way through such spaces.

Main duties of the job

Report directly to the Asset, PPM and CAD Manager for the issue and feedback of work on a daily basis.

To support the integration of 2D/3D CAD drawings to 3rd party wayfinding system used for real-time navigation experience.

Updating asset and location information on the CAFM system as assets, equipment & plant is replaced, upgraded or removed.

Carrying out administrative duties, for example writing reports for managers and clients, and helping to put together contracts, tenders and bids.

To be lead for manipulating, maintaining and amending as necessary, accurate, timely and complete records for CAD drawings and all manual and electronic information. Ensuring at all times the safety and confidentiality of information.

To ensure that the Trust's CAD drawings are available and up to date, and 'as built' and 'as installed' drawings are obtained for all new construction projects. "Create and maintain a library of current site electronic drawing records".

The post-holder will be expected to undertake training as required to develop themselves for taking on additional duties and responsibilities for the future.

To be flexible in undertaking the duties of the role.

Understand the principles of H&S management procedures.

The post holder will be required to travel to between sites in the LCHG estate portfolio to carry out their duty.

Reporting regularly on progress. Prepare and deliver reports in relation to the assigned areas of responsibility as requested.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.

The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or demonstrable equivalent experience, with additional specialist knowledge relating to construction and 'The Built Environment'.
  • Evidence of personal development as an information system manager through formal study (short courses) or continuing personal development.
  • Evidence of continuing professional management or leadership development. CAD qualification (AutoCAD).

Desirable

  • CAD qualification (AutoCAD).

Skills / Competencies

Essential

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management systems like CAFM platforms, (MiCAD).

Knowledge

Essential

  • Good understanding of PPM (planned preventative maintenance) related to property and building services.
  • Good working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD (or similar Computer Aided Design Programme), ability to amend, and/or create drawings from briefs.
  • Working knowledge of Building Technology & M&E systems.
  • Understanding of construction processes; materials, manufacture, contractual process.
  • Understanding of H&S and HSE guidance. Effective communication both written and verbal. Customer focused.

Desirable

  • Manage interface of CAD directory with CAFM system.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of Medical Gas Pipework Systems.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques.

Experience

Essential

  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Flexible approach

Desirable

  • 3D Modelling experience; Revit, BIM, Knowledge of procedures and protocols within Estates and elsewhere.

Special Attributes / Specific Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to create working 'blocks'; create uniform legend/key details for building layouts (typically room plans).
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours as required by the needs of the service.
  • Travel across LCHG sites.
