Streetspace Group
Hythe
Location
Hythe, England
Job Description The Opportunity /n Streetspace Group is a growing design, manufacturing and project-delivery group approaching £30 million turnover, with ambitious plans for continued growth in the UK and internationally. The group comprises two distinct businesses: Streetspace Build, a specialist design-and-build business with a particular strength in the education sector, and metroSTOR, a product-led manufacturing and infrastructure business with a growing international presence. /n We are looking for a commercially minded Group Head of Finance to join the leadership team and become the group’s senior finance leader. This is a broad, influential role for someone who can combine strong financial leadership with genuine commercial partnership — getting under the skin of our project-led and product-led business models, challenging performance and using financial and operational insight to improve margin, cash generation and decision-making. /n With a new group-wide ERP platform implemented, increasingly distinct operational and financial structures across the two businesses, and further international expansion planned, this is an opportunity to shape a finance function capable of supporting the group’s next stage of growth, with genuine scope to develop into broader Finance Director responsibility. /n Key Responsibilities /n /n - Lead, manage and develop a small, high-performing Finance team. /n - Act as a commercial finance partner to the leadership team, providing insight, constructive challenge and support to improve business performance. /n - Own the preparation, delivery and presentation of accurate, timely management accounts and board reporting. /n - Turn financial and operational information into clear insight, recommendations and actions. /n - Analyse and challenge pricing, project and product margins, labour recovery, overheads and operational efficiency. /n - Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning and working-capital management. /n - Strengthen balance-sheet control, reconciliations, financial governance and reporting discipline. /n - Improve project accounting, stock valuation, WIP, product costing and margin analysis. /n - Drive continued improvement in finance systems, processes and reporting following the recent ERP implementation. /n - Develop clear and meaningful divisional reporting for Streetspace Build and metroSTOR. /n - Oversee audit, tax, banking and external adviser relationships. /n - Provide financial oversight and support for the group’s existing international activities and future overseas expansion. /n - Support longer-term group structuring, business separation and preparation for future strategic transactions. /n /n About You /n You will be a commercially minded, hands-on finance leader who combines strong management-accounting fundamentals with the ability to influence operational and strategic decision-making. /n You may currently be operating as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Director, Commercial Finance lead or senior Finance Business Partner within a growing SME or similarly entrepreneurial environment. /n Your current job title is less important to us than your ability to combinefinancial ownership, commercial insight and effective business partnering. /n You will ideally have: /n /n - A recognised professional accounting qualification — ideally CIMA or ACCA. /n - A strong background in management accounting, commercial finance and business partnering. /n - Proven ownership of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial controls. /n - Experience using financial and operational information to improve margin, profitability and cash generation. /n - Experience partnering with operational teams and constructively challenging senior leaders. /n - Experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction, project delivery or another operationally complex environment. /n - Strong understanding of stock, WIP, product or project costing and margin analysis. /n - Experience leading and developing a finance team. /n - Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into clear commercial actions. /n - The credibility and judgement to operate effectively with directors and senior managers. /n - A practical, accountable and hands-on approach suited to an entrepreneurial, owner-managed business. /n /n Experience of international operations, divisional reporting, organisational change or business restructuring would be advantageous but is not essential. /n Progression /n This is a broad role with genuine scope to develop into Finance Director responsibility as the group grows, with increasing involvement in board leadership, strategy, international expansion and longer-term planning. /n How to apply /n Please submit your CV together with a brief covering note outlining: /n /n - the size and type of businesses you have worked in; /n - an example of where your financial insight directly improved margin, profitability or cash; /n - your experience of business partnering with operational teams; and /n - why this opportunity interests you. /n /n We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate not only that they have reported business performance, but that they have helped improve it.
