Health & Safety Lead Working on Rail Frameworks (Merseyrail & TfGM) Based in Liverpool & Manchester £(Apply online only) per day About the Role: - Reporting directly to the Head of Health & Safety, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of health and safety compliance across a diverse portfolio of rail and civil engineering projects. Working closely with operational leads, you will provide practical support, assurance and leadership to help deliver projects safely, compliantly and efficiently. - This is an excellent opportunity to work on varied and technically challenging rail infrastructure projects alongside experienced and supportive teams. Responsibilities: - Lead and promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture across the Merseyrail and TfGM frameworks. - Monitor compliance with company policies, client requirements and statutory legislation. - Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance monitoring across multiple projects. - Support Framework Operational Leads with health and safety advice and guidance. - Review and approve RAMS, safe systems of work and construction methodologies. - Undertake incident investigations and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions and lessons learned. - Support behavioural safety initiatives and continuous improvement programmes. - Monitor contractor performance and supply chain compliance. - Produce health and safety reports, KPI data and performance metrics. - Support client meetings, audits and regulatory inspections. - Promote best practice across rail and civil engineering operations. Requirements: - IOSH Membership. - NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) or NEBOSH Diploma. - Proven Health & Safety experience within rail and civil engineering environments. - Good understanding of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety legislation. - Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and incident investigations. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to influence operational teams and drive positive safety behaviours. - Full UK driving licence. Desirable: - Personal Track Safety (PTS). - Experience working on rail projects - Strong knowledge of heavy civil engineering activities including Lifting operations - Piling, Excavations, Temporary Works and Earthworks - Experience working within framework delivery environments. - NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
