We are committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive education for learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and High Needs. Our Foundation Learning provision provides high-quality education and support for learners with a wide range of learning difficulties, disabilities and additional needs.
Reporting to the Director of Foundation Learning - Curriculum and Support, in this newly created post you will be responsible for the management and quality of all additional learning support for High Needs learners.
Main responsibilities of the role will include:
- Managing Additional Learning Support provision for High Needs learners within our Colleges and co-ordinating the delivery of support, with responsibility for all associated funding, claims and documentation.
- Ensuring that learners receive the full range of support to which they are entitled and identified within EHCPs in a timely manner and to the highest of standards
- Leading and managing a team of staff, providing them with the inspiration, direction and support they need to deliver outstanding learning support.
- Delivering against all agreed performance targets for the area - e.g. those relating to Additional Learning Support funding, Adult Skills Budget funding and recruitment, retention, attendance and achievement for learners with support needs
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate the following:
- Degree and/or professional experience at an appropriate level
- Proven experience of managing additional learning support, ideally in Further Education, leading to demonstrable improvements in learner experience and success
- Experience of effectively assessing learners’ additional learning needs, accurately identifying support requirements and maintaining all associated records to the highest standard
- Experience in working with Local Authorities and other agencies with regards to agreeing and negotiating High Needs placements and appropriate funding
- Sound knowledge of Additional Learning Support funding and Adult Educational Budget funding relating to ALS
- Strong knowledge of the SEND code of practice and experience of its implementation
- Experience of leading teams and/or managing staff
