Are you an experienced Highways and Transportation leader looking for your next interim challenge?
Our local authority client is seeking an accomplished Head of Highways & Transportation to provide strategic leadership across one of London's most dynamic boroughs. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the delivery of a safe, efficient and sustainable highways and transport network while shaping the future of movement, connectivity and public spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership across Highways and Transportation services.
- Lead the management and continuous improvement of the highway network, associated assets and infrastructure.
- Oversee highways asset management, client commissioning, traffic management and road safety.
- Lead transportation planning, development control, transport policy, standards and guidance.
- Drive the delivery of highways capital improvement programmes and public realm projects.
- Promote sustainable travel, active travel initiatives and road safety across the borough.
- Build strong relationships with elected members, residents, internal teams and external partners.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and deliver complex infrastructure programmes.
- Manage budgets, commercial contracts and service transformation programmes.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive senior leadership experience within Highways and Transportation.
- A proven track record of managing highways maintenance, transportation and infrastructure services.
- Strong knowledge of highways asset management and transport planning.
- Experience leading large-scale capital programmes and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience working in politically sensitive environments.
- Strong financial, commercial and change management experience.
- A passion for delivering safer, healthier and more sustainable transport networks.
Role Details
- Rate: £650 per day (Inside IR35)
- Contract: 6 Months
- Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office
