Head of Onshore Policy
Background
Scottish Renewables is seeking a strategic and influential policy leader to drive its onshore renewables agenda at a pivotal moment for Scotland's energy transition.
The Opportunity
This is a high‑profile leadership role offering the opportunity to become one of the leading voices for onshore renewables in Scotland.
Responsibilities
- Lead Scottish Renewables' policy positions on onshore wind deployment and planning reform.
- Convene industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to develop consensus and influence change.
- Shape consultation responses, policy positions, and strategic recommendations.
- Lead engagement with government, regulators, planning authorities, and industry bodies.
- Drive the content and programme for Scottish Renewables' flagship Onshore and Planning conferences.
- Work alongside specialists in markets, economics and grid infrastructure to develop holistic policy solutions.
About You
You may currently work within a renewable energy developer, planning or environmental consultancy, industry body, regulator, or government. What matters most is your ability to combine technical credibility with strategic leadership and stakeholder influence.
Key qualifications and skills:
- Strong planning and consenting expertise.
- Experience of onshore wind development or renewable energy infrastructure projects.
- A deep understanding of environmental planning and the Scottish planning landscape.
- The ability to build consensus across competing stakeholder interests.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- The credibility to engage confidently with senior industry leaders and policymakers.
Additional Information & How to Apply
You will join a supportive, inclusive and collaborative team, working on a hybrid basis (max 2 days from home) from the Glasgow office. Occasional overnight stays and weekend travel/event attendance will be required.
