Health and Safety Manager Euston, fully on site £70,000 DOE The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing all health and safety activities on the rail project, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, railway standards, client requirements, and the project Health & Safety Management Plan. Key Responsibilities Lead the implementation and maintenance of the project Health & Safety Management System. Provide H&S leadership, advice, and support to project management, employees, contractors, and subcontractors. Identify, assess, and manage health and safety risks associated with rail and construction activities. Ensure safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work processes are implemented. Monitor safety compliance through site inspections, audits, observations, and management reviews. Manage H&S requirements associated with rail operations, track access, plant, lifting, electrical work, excavation, work at height, and other high-risk activities. Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Develop and maintain emergency response and evacuation arrangements. Coordinate H&S inductions, training, toolbox talks, and competency requirements. Monitor contractor and subcontractor H&S performance. Prepare H&S reports, statistics, and performance dashboards for project management and the client. Promote a strong, proactive safety culture and continuous improvement. Stop unsafe work where there is an unacceptable risk to people, the public, railway operations, or infrastructure. Requirements Relevant degree, diploma, or professional qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field. Recognised H&S professional certification/registration. Proven experience managing contractors and high-risk construction activities. Knowledge of railway safety requirements and construction H&S legislation. Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary project environment.
