No two days are the same in this rewarding role and you'll build meaningful relationships with patients, contribute to their healthcare and help create a positive experience for everyone who visits the practice.
*The role is based on 18 hours per week, worked across both sites, over 2 days (Monday and Friday). Some Saturday mornings required throughout the year.
Main duties of the job
As a Health care Assistant you will play a role in delivering high quality patient care, undertaking a range of clinical procedures such as blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, phlebotomy and health screening checks. You will support patients with long-term conditions, collect relevant clinical information and assist with health promotion to encourage healthier lifestyles.

Our Practice is based over two sites close to the Yorkshire / Lancashire border in Colne and Earby. We have a patient list of over 15,250 patients.
We are a training practice, undertake research and have a strong emphasis on working as a team to provide high quality patient-focussed care.
We take an active role in the Pendle East Primary Care Network and work closely with this wider team within our group to ensure we can provide successful candidates with the support, development and experience they need for a successful career in primary health care.
Job responsibilities
Main duties of the job
The Role is 18 hours per week, Monday & Friday, based across both sites.
Responsibilities include:
- Phlebotomy
- BP checks
- Performing routine clinical tasks such as ECGs, Health checks, Holistic, frailty and respiratory care.
- Processing and management of laboratory samples as requested by GPs & Nurses.
- Preparing and maintaining clinical areas, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.
- Undertaking NHS Health Checks.
- Assisting in the assessment and suveillance of patients health and well-being.
- Act as a chaperone as required.

Essential
- Able to provide quality care.
- Good record keeping skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong IT skills and experience with electronic patient records.
- Orgnaisational skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of the EMIS Web clinical system.
- Willing to undertake any necessary training to fulfill the role.
Qualifications
Essential
- Experience of working as a HCA or Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of infection control & clinical governance.
Desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- NVQ in Health & Social Care.
Experience

- Experience with microsoft applications.
