We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Fosse Way a women's closed prison in Glen Parva, Leicestershire.

HMP Fosse Way is a busy male prison with a capacity for up to 1900 inmates. The site offers free parking and an on site gym. We are recruiting for Healthcare Assistants to support the wider healthcare team.

Salary

£15.80 - Weekdays

£18.33 - Nights and weekends   Hours Potential shifts below;   0700 - 2000 1930- 0800   Monday - Sunday The maximum hours you can work on bank is 22.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
  • Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
  • Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
  • Support the nursing team with all aspects of care 
  • Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
  • Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
  • Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable! 
  • Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
  • Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
