Job Description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us at our depot in Carlisle to support our General Haulage operation, completing store and RDC deliveries across the region. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• 
  
• General haulage operations using curtain-side trailers

Delivering to RDCs, distribution centres and retail stores across the region

Store collections for delivery to factories and distribution centres

Occasional loading and unloading of cages as part of store delivery activities

Completing daily vehicle checks and transport documentation

Maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and professionalism

Working closely with the Transport Team to ensure efficient service delivery

Adhering to Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive and Tachograph legislation at all times

Pay Rates

Day Shift Rates

• 
  
• Monday to Friday Days: £14.60 per hour

Saturday & Sunday Days: £17.60 per hour

Bank Holidays: £18.41 per hour

Night Shift Rates

• 
  
• Monday to Friday Nights: £15.80 per hour

Saturday & Sunday Nights: £18.10 per hour

Bank Holidays: £18.41 per hour

Additional Allowances

• 
  
• £5 tax-free meal allowance per shift

Qualifications

• 
  
• You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)

No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.

Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.

Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.

Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.

Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.

Excellent communication skills.
