Highly Specialist Pharmacist - Dermatology
Job summary
The post-holder will be responsible for leading the development of an advanced clinical pharmacy service to the Dermatology Department, in particular for patients with inflammatory dermatological conditions. They will provide an expert pharmaceutical service for the management of these patients, deliver high quality pharmaceutical care and improve patient safety.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide information and advice to the Dermatology team about drugs, doses administration and potential side effects, including initiating and modifying treatment. They will educate patients about changes to their medication and how to take specific medicines. They will be involved in the review of new and existing treatments, actively contributing to the activity of the Homecare pharmacy service by prescribing or clinically checking prescriptions, reviewing SLAs, liaising with the clinical team and Homecare providers, and ensuring compliance with Blueteq forms. The post-holder will be an independent prescriber and prescribe medicines for agreed patients within their own level of experience and competence, and in line with current legislation and local polices.

- Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent training

- Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) faculty membership
- Postgraduate qualifications in Medical
Experience
Essential
- Relevant and extensive post registration ward pharmacy experience including in medicine and surgery specialist areas
- Experience as a specialist clinical pharmacist in medicine or surgery, able to demonstrate a high level of competency e.g. equivalent to achieving Mastery in the majority of competencies within the Advanced Level Competency Framework
- Variety of clinical practice to include Acute Medicine and Surgery rotations
- Supervision of pharmacy staff in training
- Meets the necessary GPhC requirements in order to undertake role of GPhC Pre-registration Pharmacist Tutor
- Experience of Dermatology Pharmacy
Desirable
- Management e.g. recruitment / appraisal / training / leadership / motivation / sickness absence
- Support in the education and training of hospital staff outside of pharmacy
