We invite you to apply for a new and exciting opportunity working as a highly specialised speech and language therapist in the area of adult eating disorders. Main duties of the job

o As part of the Speech and Language Therapy assessment process to provide evidence based, high quality swallowing and communication assessments, interventions and coproduced care plans. To provide clinical reviews of these assessments and interventions working closely with the wider MDT to support delivery and evaluation of clinical outcomes. o Participate and lead on research within area of clinical expertise where possible to raise understanding and awareness of the benefits of Speech and Language Therapy and awareness of communication.o Lead on the development and delivery of specialist Speech and Language Therapy education and training to: service users, carers, families' staff, students and other relevant organisations.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a communication service to the case load dependent on service need. The post holder will be responsible for managing a complex caseload and as an highly specialist speech and language therapist responsible for clinical and caseload supervision, training of other team members and on occasion external partners The post holder will be responsible for providing highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment, interventions and advice in the clinical area of communication needs. The post holder will be responsible for providing Specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment, interventions and advice in the clinical area of complex dysphagia.

Person specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Health And Care Professions Council Registered Speech and Language Therapist
  • RCSLT Registered
  • Evidence of Continued Professional development
  • Practice Placement Educator

Desirable

  • Higher Level Degree
  • Leadership qualification
  • Post Grad Training in Mental Health Issues Learning disabilities , and challenging behaviour
  • Member of RCSLT, regional clinical Excellence network appropriate to specialist area of post.
  • Dysphagia Trained

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of extensive post registration experience including working with adults experiencing mental health related difficulties, , communication issues and cognitive impairment.
  • Experience of implementing best practice and ability to carry out clinical audit
  • Experience of integrating care delivery across multi disciplinary /multi agency teams
  • Experience of training and development of other Speech and Language Therapists / support staff Experience of presenting at local/national level

Desirable

  • Extensive experience of working in mental health and or learning disabilities
  • Experience working in community services
