Manual / CNC Horizontal Borer Setter / Operator / Programmer Location: Ashton-under-Lyne Salary: Up to £20 per hour for CNC Programmer, up to £18 per hour for Manual Setter Shifts Available: Days & Nights Hours: Permanent day shift or permanent night shift Day shift: Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm, and Friday 8am to 1pm, OT expected Night shift: Monday to Thursday 6pm to 6am, OT available Friday after 1pm and weekend The Company: Our client is a well-established heavy engineering and precision machining business, supplying high-quality machined components to customers across a range of industrial sectors. Operating from a modern manufacturing facility, they specialise in machining medium to large, complex engineered components using a combination of manual and CNC machinery. Due to continued investment and growth, they are looking to recruit experienced Manual and CNC Horizontal Borer Setter / Operators to strengthen their skilled machining team. Manual Horizontal Borer Setter / Operator The Role: Working within a busy heavy engineering machine shop, you will be responsible for setting and operating manual horizontal boring machines to manufacture medium to heavy engineered components to customer specifications. Key Responsibilities: Set and operate manual horizontal boring machines. Produce medium to heavy workpieces from engineering drawings. Carry out self-inspection using manual measuring equipment. Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy. Work safely and efficiently within production schedules. Be willing to work overtime when required. The Ideal Candidate: Previous experience setting and operating manual horizontal boring machines. Candidates with a strong milling background will also be considered. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience machining medium to heavy components. Competent carrying out self-inspection. Reliable with excellent attention to detail. CNC Horizontal Borer Setter / Operator / Programmer The Role: You will be responsible for setting, operating and programming CNC horizontal boring and milling machines, producing high-quality engineered components to customer drawings and specifications. Key Responsibilities: Set, operate and programme CNC horizontal boring/milling machines. Programme using Heidenhain control systems . Manufacture medium to heavy components from engineering drawings. Carry out self-inspection to ensure components meet quality standards. Work accurately to tight tolerances. Complete overtime when required. The Ideal Candidate: Previous experience setting, operating and programming CNC horizontal boring or milling machines. Strong experience with Heidenhain controls . Able to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience machining medium to heavy workpieces. Competent using manual measuring equipment. Quality-focused with a proactive attitude. CNC Hartford Horizontal Borer Setter / Operator / Programmer The Role: This position involves setting, operating and programming a CNC Hartford Horizontal Borer , manufacturing medium to heavy engineered components to customer specifications within a busy heavy engineering environment. Key Responsibilities: Set, operate and programme CNC Hartford Horizontal Borer machines. Programme using Fanuc controls . Utilise CIMCO CAD/CAM or Fusion software where required. Manufacture components from customer drawings and specifications. Carry out self-inspection using manual measuring equipment. Maintain excellent quality standards and productivity. Be willing to work overtime when required. The Ideal Candidate: Previous experience setting, operating and programming CNC milling or horizontal boring machines. Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems . Experience using CIMCO CAD/CAM or Fusion software would be advantageous. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
