Hydraulic Engineer – Refuse Vehicles Location: Leyland Salary: £18.00 - £21.00 per hour (DOE) Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Hours: Monday to Friday | Day Shift | circa 8:00am Starts - flexible Overtime: Enghanced rates We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing commercial vehicle engineering business based in Leyland. Our client is a recognised specialist in the maintenance, servicing and repair of municipal and refuse collection vehicles, providing high-quality engineering solutions to customers across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Hydraulic Engineer to join a professional workshop, offering £18.00 - £21.00 per hour, a Monday to Friday day shift, regular overtime paid at time and a half, and excellent long-term career prospects. Key Responsibilities * Diagnose and repair hydraulic faults on refuse collection vehicles. * Service and replace hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses and associated components. * Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing. * Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical drawings. * Complete mechanical repairs where required. * Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard and in line with health and safety procedures. * Maintain accurate service and repair documentation. What We're Looking For * Proven experience working with hydraulic systems. * Experience working on refuse vehicles, HGVs, municipal vehicles, plant machinery or other heavy equipment is advantageous. * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. * Good mechanical engineering knowledge. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail. * Full UK Driving Licence preferred. What's On Offer * £18.00 - £21.00 per hour, depending on experience. * Monday to Friday working pattern. * 8:00am starts. * Overtime paid at time and a half. * 30-minute unpaid lunch break. * Two paid 15-minute breaks each day. * Permanent, full-time position. * Stable workload with long-term career opportunities. * Modern workshop with a supportive engineering team.
