Chancery Lane, Central London | Permanent | £40,000+ p.a. | Minimum 3 Years PQE

The Opportunity

A growing London law firm is seeking an experienced, commercially minded and client-focused Immigration Solicitor to join its Chancery Lane office.

This is a fee-earning position , offering the opportunity to take a key role within a busy and expanding Immigration Department.

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of UK immigration matters, and play an active role in converting enquiries into retained, fee-paying clients. The role will suit a solicitor who combines strong technical immigration expertise with excellent client-facing skills, commercial awareness and the confidence to take responsibility for a high-performing caseload.

Key Responsibilities

Caseload Management

  • Manage a varied caseload of UK immigration matters from initial instruction through to completion, including:
  • Entry clearance and visa applications across visit, study, work and family routes
  • Leave to remain and indefinite leave to remain applications
  • Sponsorship licence applications and sponsor compliance advice
  • Family and private life applications under Appendix FM and Article 8
  • EU Settlement Scheme matters and late applications
  • Administrative reviews and appeals, where authorised
  • Nationality and citizenship applications
  • Provide accurate, timely and commercially sound immigration advice.
  • Prepare and review applications, legal representations, covering letters and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, the Home Office, UKVI, Counsel and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain files to a high professional and regulatory standard.
  • Identify and appropriately upscale complex, sensitive or high-risk matters.

Client Conversion & Revenue

  • Conduct initial client consultations and convert enquiries into signed, fee-paying instructions.
  • Build trust with prospective clients and communicate the value of legal services clearly.
  • Meet agreed monthly billing and revenue targets.
  • Maintain accurate time recording and ensure timely billing and file progression.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-referrals and contribute to wider business development activity.

Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Maintain current knowledge of UK immigration law, Immigration Rules, Home Office guidance and procedural developments.
  • Comply with SRA requirements, AML obligations and internal risk and compliance procedures.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
  • Promptly raise regulatory or compliance concerns where appropriate.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor admitted to practise in England & Wales with a valid SRA Practising Certificate.
  • Ideally a minimum 3 years' PQE in UK immigration law.
  • Strong practical knowledge across a broad range of UK immigration routes, including PBS, family and EEA/EUSS matters.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume and varied caseload independently and to deadline.
  • Excellent client-facing skills, with the ability to build confidence and trust quickly.
  • Demonstrable experience converting consultations and enquiries into retained, fee-paying clients.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of billing and revenue targets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, professional judgement and risk awareness.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
  • Experience handling immigration appeals and complex or high-stakes matters.
  • Experience advising businesses on sponsor licence applications and ongoing compliance.
  • An existing client base or professional referral network.
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly languages relevant to an international client base.
  • Familiarity with case management and digital file management systems.
