Income Officer Supported Housing Location: Manchester area Hybrid, 3 days office / 2 days home Salary: £32,400 Contract: Temporary & Permanent opportunities Sector: Supported Housing MK Consult is working with one of the UK's largest specialist supported housing providers to recruit an experienced Income Officer to join its Income team.

The organisation manages approximately 2,500 units and works extensively with Local Authorities and Housing Benefit teams to ensure customers receive the correct funding and their rent accounts are effectively managed.

This role will suit someone who really understands Housing Benefit, income recovery and Local Authority processes and can build strong working relationships across multiple authorities.

The Role Reporting to the Head of Income, you'll be responsible for: Managing rent accounts, arrears and Housing Benefit shortfalls Building and maintaining strong relationships with Local Authority Housing Benefit teams Processing Housing Benefit decision notices and checking eligible rent payments Resolving suspended, cancelled and underpaid Housing Benefit claims Raising rent demands, shortfall invoices and arrears correspondence Reconciling current and former tenant accounts Supporting Housing Benefit appeals where rents have been restricted Working closely with customers, care providers, Housing Officers and internal teams Supporting the wider Income team as required The role is focused on ensuring rental debts are collected in full and supporting customers who move between Housing Benefit eligibility and self-funder status.

What We're Looking For We're particularly keen to speak with candidates who have: Housing Benefit and/or Universal Credit experience Strong experience dealing with Local Authorities Income, rent recovery or credit control experience Supported housing or housing association experience Confidence dealing with complex Housing Benefit queries Strong Excel and numerical skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills The ability to manage their own workload and escalate issues appropriately Experience of working with Housing Benefit/Universal Credit departments to secure full payment of amounts due is an essential requirement.
