Company Overview

A well-capitalised European renewable energy platform, backed by a leading global institutional investor, is looking to appoint an M&A Manager to support the continued expansion of its renewable energy portfolio across Europe.

The business is developing a multi-GW portfolio across solar PV, onshore wind, BESS and hybrid projects. The platform remains in a significant growth phase, creating an opportunity to join a lean investment team with direct exposure to senior management and the wider development, finance, legal and technical functions.

The Role

The M&A Manager will take a key role in the origination, evaluation and execution of renewable energy transactions, working across acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures and selected disposals.

This is a highly transactional position with responsibility throughout the full investment lifecycle, from initial screening and valuation through due diligence, Investment Committee approval, negotiation and completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate and assess acquisition and investment opportunities across the European renewable energy market.
  • Lead financial modelling, valuation and investment returns analysis across development-stage, RTB, construction and operational assets.
  • Assess project economics including development costs, construction assumptions, financing structures, route-to-market and exit scenarios.
  • Coordinate financial, legal, tax, technical, commercial and ESG due diligence processes.
  • Prepare investment papers, recommendations and presentations for senior management and Investment Committee approval.
  • Lead and support commercial negotiations around valuation, transaction structure and key contractual terms.
  • Work closely with external advisers and counterparties throughout transaction execution.
  • Review and negotiate transaction documentation including SPAs, SHAs, JV agreements and development-related agreements alongside internal and external legal counsel.
  • Support strategic partnerships, platform-level transactions and portfolio optimisation initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally with development, engineering, finance, legal and asset management teams to evaluate investment risks and opportunities.
  • Support the continued development of the company's M&A strategy and European growth pipeline.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Approximately 5–8 years' relevant professional experience.
  • A background within renewable energy investment, infrastructure investment, M&A advisory, investment banking, corporate M&A, project finance or transaction advisory.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities.
  • Demonstrable experience executing transactions through multiple stages of the deal lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project economics and key investment drivers.
  • Experience analysing development-stage and/or operational renewable energy assets.
  • Confidence managing advisers, counterparties and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-growing platform.
  • Previous exposure to solar, onshore wind and/or battery storage investments.
  • Knowledge of PPAs, merchant exposure, CfDs, capacity markets and battery revenue models.
  • Exposure to project debt financing. xwzovoh
