A leading international law firm is looking to establish a new IP team in Birmingham, building on the success of its established London IP practice. The firm has a strong international platform and a proven track record across contentious and non-contentious IP, covering areas including patents, trade marks, copyright and designs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a key role in replicating the success of the London team and establishing a leading IP offering in Birmingham.

The firm is seeking an experienced IP Solicitor at Partner level to develop and lead the new Birmingham team, with the potential to build and manage a team of up to six professionals. The role offers significant scope to shape the direction of the practice, develop client relationships and drive new business across the firm's UK and international network. An existing following is not essential, although candidates will need to present a strong commercial business case and demonstrate the ability to develop and grow a successful practice.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the firm's new Birmingham IP team
  • Build a successful contentious and non-contentious IP practice
  • Advise clients across areas including patents, trade marks, copyright and designs
  • Develop and execute a clear business development strategy
  • Identify and develop new client opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of up to six professionals
  • Contribute to the wider strategic development of the firm's IP offering
  • Establish and grow the Birmingham practice within the market


Requirements

  • UK qualified Solicitor with significant IP experience
  • Strong contentious and/or non-contentious IP background
  • Experience across patents, trade marks, copyright xwzovoh and/or designs
  • Existing Partner, Legal Director or equivalent senior-level experience
  • Strong business development and client relationship skills
  • A clear and credible business case for developing the Birmingham practice
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and grow a team
  • Strong commercial awareness and entrepreneurial approach
  • An existing following is not essential, provided there is a compelling business case for the practice
  • International experience would be advantageous
  • Ambition to play a leading role in establishing a new Birmingham IP offering
