T Support & Development Engineer. Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex Salary: £34,000–£37,000 per annum (depending on experience). Plus discretionary annual bonus. Are you a hands-on IT professional with a passion for both technical support and software development? We're looking for an IT Support & Development Engineer to work for our client who are a long established and award winning manufacturing company in Southend on Sea, Essex This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll be involved in everything from supporting users and maintaining IT infrastructure to developing in-house software solutions that improve business efficiency. Please note: Applicants must live within a maximum one-hour commute of Southend-on-Sea. About the Role Working closely with the IT team and wider business, you'll help maintain and improve the company's IT systems while supporting users across all departments. You'll also play a key role in developing bespoke software, automating business processes, and delivering IT projects that support the company's continued growth. Key Responsibilities * Provide first and second-line IT support across the business. * Support and maintain servers, networking, telecommunications and security systems. * Develop and maintain in-house software applications and business tools. * Write and maintain SQL queries, reports, stored procedures and data integrations. * Automate repetitive business processes to improve efficiency. * Assist with IT infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives. * Support Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft server environments. * Manage network hardware including switches, routers, Wi-Fi and firewalls. * Maintain company websites, email security, CCTV and access control systems. * Support mobile devices, printers, handheld scanners and workshop equipment. * Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees and IT equipment. * Work with third-party suppliers and managed service providers. * Produce clear documentation for systems and software. * Provide training and support to colleagues across the business. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys combining technical support with software development and who has excellent problem-solving skills. Ideally you'll have experience with: Windows Server environments Active Directory and Group Policy SQL databases and query development Software development and scripting Networking technologies (switches, routers, Wi-Fi and firewalls) Microsoft Windows desktop support API integrations and data automation Microsoft Office 365 IT troubleshooting and root cause analysis Experience with any of the following would be advantageous: * MRP/ERP systems * Source control (SVN or similar) * Website administration * CCTV and access control systems * Digital signage * PAT testing or electronic equipment repair About You You'll be: * Organised and able to prioritise your workload. * A proactive problem solver who enjoys improving systems. * Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. * Hands-on and happy to get involved in a wide variety of IT tasks. * An excellent communicator with a friendly, approachable manner. * Passionate about technology and continuous improvement.
