T Support & Development Engineer. Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex Salary: £34,000–£37,000 per annum (depending on experience). Plus discretionary annual bonus. We're looking for an IT Support & Development Engineer to work for our client who are a long established and award winning manufacturing company in Southend on Sea, Essex This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll be involved in everything from supporting users and maintaining IT infrastructure to developing in-house software solutions that improve business efficiency. About the Role Working closely with the IT team and wider business, you'll help maintain and improve the company's IT systems while supporting users across all departments. You'll also play a key role in developing bespoke software, automating business processes, and delivering IT projects that support the company's continued growth. Key Responsibilities * Provide first and second-line IT support across the business. * Support and maintain servers, networking, telecommunications and security systems. * Develop and maintain in-house software applications and business tools. * Write and maintain SQL queries, reports, stored procedures and data integrations. * Automate repetitive business processes to improve efficiency. * Assist with IT infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives. * Support Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft server environments. * Manage network hardware including switches, routers, Wi-Fi and firewalls. * Maintain company websites, email security, CCTV and access control systems. * Support mobile devices, printers, handheld scanners and workshop equipment. * Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees and IT equipment. * Work with third-party suppliers and managed service providers. * Produce clear documentation for systems and software. * Provide training and support to colleagues across the business. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys combining technical support with software development and who has excellent problem-solving skills. Ideally you'll have experience with: Windows Server environments Active Directory and Group Policy SQL databases and query development Software development and scripting Networking technologies (switches, routers, Wi-Fi and firewalls) Microsoft Windows desktop support API integrations and data automation Microsoft Office 365 IT troubleshooting and root cause analysis Experience with any of the following would be advantageous: * MRP/ERP systems * Source control (SVN or similar) * Website administration * CCTV and access control systems * Digital signage * PAT testing or electronic equipment repair About You You'll be: * Organised and able to prioritise your workload. * A proactive problem solver who enjoys improving systems. * Comfortable working independently and as part of a team. * Hands-on and happy to get involved in a wide variety of IT tasks. * An excellent communicator with a friendly, approachable manner. * Passionate about technology and continuous improvement.
