Our client, a specialist manufacturer, is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Junior Buyer / Procurement Officer to join their procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong administrator with proven experience in the manufacturing sector who is looking to develop a career in purchasing and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the procurement team in sourcing materials, components, and services in line with production requirements
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
  • Maintain supplier records, pricing data, and procurement documentation
  • Monitor stock levels and liaise with production and planning teams to ensure continuity of supply
  • Track orders and deliveries, resolving any delays or discrepancies with suppliers
  • Assist in supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures and quality standards
  • Generate reports on purchasing activity, spend, and supplier performance
  • Provide general administrative support to the procurement function

Requirements

  • Mandatory: Previous administrative experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build supplier relationships and either demonstrate or develop effective negotiation skills
  • Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience using ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in procurement or supply chain
  • Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn

Desirable

  • Exposure to purchasing or supply chain functions
  • Understanding of inventory management principles
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CIPS or working towards)
