Lab Chemist

Our client, a prominent name in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a dedicated Lab Chemist to join their team on a contract basis until end March 2027. This dynamic role involves supporting the laboratory functions critical to the development and testing of aerospace materials. Key Responsibilities: Conducting chemical analysis of metal finishing bath contents and ensuring they meet relevant specifications and requirements Developing metal finishing processes to optimise production performance and efficiency, including writing technical reports to justify decision-making processes Creating and maintaining control measures to ensure compliance with legal and legislated requirements Performing periodic testing for corrosion and coating weight specifications to ensure the process is within specification Managing the Effluent Plant operations to meet legal requirements Leading root cause investigations to prevent recurrence of failure modes Creating and amending Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions Acting as the site technical expert in metal finishing and chemical processing Supporting Nadcap auditing Assisting suppliers with technical queries Job Requirements: Proven experience as a Lab Technician or Chemist in a laboratory setting Understanding of laboratory and analytical techniques A Level qualifications in Chemistry and Maths A further qualification in Chemistry or Metal Finishing is advantageous Theoretical knowledge of the main branches of chemistry Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work effectively within a team and independently Benefits: Opportunity to work with a leading company in the industry Professional development and growth opportunities Supportive and collaborative work environment Holiday pay Hourly Rate/Hours PAYE Pay rate: up £30ph plus accrual holiday OR £34.36ph with advanced holiday pay.
