Talent STEM are partnering with an established chemical manufacturing organisation in the Sunderland / County Durham area to recruit a Laboratory Technician on a 12-month temporary contract. This is a hands-on laboratory role supporting the testing and analysis of raw materials, intermediate products and finished goods within a busy chemical manufacturing environment. The position would suit someone with previous practical laboratory experience, ideally gained within a chemistry, analytical, quality control or chemical manufacturing laboratory. You do not need experience with every analytical technique used on site, provided you have a good grounding in laboratory work and are comfortable learning new testing methods. Key responsibilities - Carry out routine laboratory testing of raw materials, intermediate products and finished goods. - Undertake quantitative and qualitative analysis using a range of laboratory techniques. - Analyse process and environmental samples, including pH, TSS and COD testing. - Support testing and validation activities relating to new plant equipment and technical projects. - Accurately record, interpret and communicate analytical results. - Maintain high standards of laboratory documentation, housekeeping and health and safety. Candidate profile We are interested in speaking with candidates who have: - A degree in Chemistry or another relevant scientific subject. - Previous practical laboratory experience. - Experience gained within chemistry, analytical, quality control, chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical, environmental or materials laboratories would be particularly relevant.
