As the organisation continues to evolve, our newly designed Digital, Data and Security Services (DDSS) team will be critical to how Ofgem modernises its services, strengthens its platforms and supports wider government priorities.

The Role

As the Lead AI & Automation Outcomes Consultant, you will provide strategic leadership in helping the organisation identify where AI and automation can solve complex business challenges and deliver measurable value.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you will translate organisational priorities into practical AI solutions, ensuring initiatives are technically feasible, aligned to governance standards and capable of delivering real business outcomes. You'll also play a key role in developing organisational capability, influencing senior decision-makers and supporting the successful adoption of AI products and services across Ofgem.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the AI Outcomes team, identifying opportunities to design and deliver AI solutions that create measurable organisational value.
  • Providing expert guidance on operationalising AI and data products across the organisation.
  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, sponsors and business teams to identify opportunities, validate outcomes and ensure solutions meet user and regulatory requirements.
  • Translating complex business challenges into scalable AI solutions aligned with Ofgem's strategic priorities.
  • Developing AI solution blueprints that align with enterprise architecture, governance and security standards.
  • Acting as the senior escalation point for AI delivery, managing risks, removing blockers and coordinating dependencies across multiple programmes.
  • Coaching and mentoring colleagues while building wider organisational capability in AI and data innovation.
  • Supporting delivery teams through the full AI product lifecycle, from proof of concept through MVP, scale-up and continuous improvement.
  • Promoting responsible and ethical AI, ensuring compliance with governance, regulatory and data privacy requirements.
  • Communicating AI outcomes, progress and benefits to technical and non-technical audiences across the organisation.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a strategic technology leader who combines strong stakeholder engagement with practical experience of delivering AI and data solutions within complex organisations.

  • Proven experience designing, developing and embedding AI solutions that deliver measurable organisational value.
  • Experience leading AI and data products from proof of concept through to operational adoption.
  • Strong knowledge of AI delivery methodologies, data science techniques and product delivery approaches.
  • Experience ensuring responsible and ethical AI adoption, including governance, compliance and risk management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and build organisational buy-in.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing multidisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing capability and driving innovation.
  • Knowledge of energy sector data and AI challenges.
  • An understanding of Net Zero, regulation and affordability within the UK energy sector.
