Job summary

Powys Teaching Health Board is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join our Suicide Prevention and Postvention Service as a Postvention and Prevention Team Lead.Working within a developing and innovative service, you will play a key role in ensuring timely and effective responses following suspected suicides and supporting the delivery of prevention activity that contributes to reducing suicide and improving wellbeing across the county.

The Postvention and Prevention Team Lead is responsible for the operational management and delivery of the Powys Suicide Prevention and Postvention Service.The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership to a specialist team, ensuring high-quality and effective responses following suspected suicides and overseeing the delivery of suicide prevention activities within communities across Powys.You will be responsible for managing staff, coordinating complex postvention responses, maintaining service pathways and ensuring evidence-based support is delivered to individuals, families, workplaces, schools and communities affected by suicide.The role involves close partnership working with colleagues across health, social care, education, emergency services and the third sector to facilitate coordinated responses and strengthen suicide prevention efforts at a local level.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the Roleo Provide operational leadership to the Suicide Prevention and Postvention Team.o Manage the day-to-day delivery of postvention and prevention services across Powys.o Coordinate and oversee responses following suspected suicides.o Supervise, support and develop team members.o Ensure adherence to agreed pathways, policies and governance requirements.o Monitor service activity, outcomes and performance.o Develop and maintain effective relationships with local stakeholders and partner agencies.o Deliver and oversee suicide prevention training, awareness-raising and community engagement activities.o Support the implementation of priorities within the Powys Suicide Prevention Strategy.o Contribute operational expertise to service development, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Registration with approved professional regulatory body OR BACP Registered Counsellor or Psychotherapist

Desirable

  • EMDR Practitioner
  • Psychotherapy practice

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in providing Bereavement Counselling
  • Significant experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Registered Social Worker, or Counsellor working with clients with moderate mental health difficulties and complex grief
  • Experience in a range of mental health settings and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Expertise in managing and treating a range of highly complex client presentations
  • Experience of preparing and producing non-clinical reports
  • Experience of providing supervision/consultation
