The Company
An established M&E building-services consultancy based in the heart of London is looking to appoint an experienced Lead M&E 2D/3D CAD Technician.
The consultancy works across a varied portfolio of commercial, residential, education, healthcare and mixed-use developments. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative engineering team and take responsibility for the quality and coordination of its M&E CAD output.
The Role
You will act as the lead M&E CAD professional within the business, producing high-quality 2D/3D mechanical and electrical drawings while supporting engineers and overseeing the work of the M&E CAD Technician.
The position will suit an experienced CAD Technician or Coordinator who has a strong understanding of building-services systems and is ready to take greater ownership of CAD standards, drawing quality and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed 2D/3D mechanical and electrical building-services drawings using AutoCAD.
* Lead and coordinate the consultancy’s M&E CAD workload.
* Support and provide technical guidance to the M&E CAD Technician.
* Convert engineers’ sketches, mark-ups and design information into accurate CAD drawings.
* Prepare coordinated layouts, schematics, sections, details and builders’ work drawings.
* Review drawings to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with company standards.
* Coordinate mechanical and electrical services with architectural and structural information.
* Identify and help resolve drawing clashes and coordination issues.
* Manage drawing registers, revisions, file structures and document-control procedures.
* Develop and maintain CAD templates, layering conventions and drawing standards.
* Liaise closely with mechanical and electrical engineers throughout each project.
* Assist with project deadlines and help prioritise CAD resources across multiple schemes.
* Attend internal design and coordination meetings where required.
* Support the continued improvement of CAD processes within the consultancy.
Skills and Experience
* Strong experience producing 2D/3D CAD drawings within an M&E or building-services consultancy.
* Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD.
* Good understanding of mechanical and electrical building-services systems.
* Experience producing drawings for projects at different design and construction stages.
* Ability to interpret engineers’ mark-ups, specifications and design information.
* Strong understanding of drawing standards, layering conventions and document control.
* Previous experience reviewing or coordinating the work of other CAD Technicians would be advantageous.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate work to project deadlines.
* Revit experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as this is primarily a 2D/3D CAD position.
What Is on Offer
* The opportunity to become the lead M&E CAD professional within an established consultancy.
* Responsibility for overseeing and developing the company’s CAD standards.
* A varied portfolio of London and UK-based building-services projects.
* A supportive and collaborative working environment.
* A competitive salary and benefits package
