Experienced Learning Support Assistant required for September start Are you a compassionate, patient and experienced Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference? We are currently recruiting for an experienced LSA to work alongside a qualified tutor, providing support to a primary-aged child with Autism. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident supporting children with additional needs and who can build a positive, trusting relationship while providing a calm, consistent and supportive approach. Days/Hours: MondayFriday, 2025 hours per week Contract: Temporary, ongoing Start Date: September Location: Lambeth The Role You will work closely with a qualified tutor to provide tailored educational and pastoral support to the pupil. The pupil requires additional support with emotional regulation, engagement and behaviour. A calm, consistent and individualised approach is therefore essential. Previous experience supporting children with Autism and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) would be highly desirable. An understanding of trauma-informed approaches and experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs would also be advantageous. We Are Looking For Someone Who Is: Experienced in supporting children with SEND, ideally including Autism. Knowledgeable about, or experienced in, PDA-informed approaches . Patient, caring and emotionally resilient. Calm and confident when supporting behaviour that may be challenging. Flexible and able to adapt their approach to meet individual needs. Proactive and able to use their own initiative. Skilled at building positive and trusting relationships with children. Able to support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety. Consistent and reliable in their approach. A good communicator who can work effectively alongside the tutor, family and wider professional team. Key Responsibilities Your role may include: Providing individualised 1:1 support throughout learning activities. Working alongside the qualified tutor to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Encouraging engagement with learning while recognising and responding to the pupil's individual needs. Supporting emotional regulation and helping the pupil to develop coping strategies. Using appropriate, positive and proactive approaches to support behaviour. Recognising potential triggers and helping to reduce anxiety and avoid escalation. Supporting the pupil's social and emotional development. Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement. Adapting activities and communication styles according to the pupil's needs. Working collaboratively with the tutor, family and other professionals involved in the pupil's support. Safeguarding Requirements Candidates must hold a valid DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to complete a new DBS check as part of the recruitment process.
