Legal Adviser

We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Adviser to join our Legal Services team and are looking to recruit from all levels of post-qualified experience. Working as part of a professional multidisciplinary team that includes doctors and dentists, our Legal Advisers perform a vital role in ensuring that MPS members receive expert and effective legal representation across a range of matters, which typically involve advising and representing members in fitness to practise proceedings before their regulator (GMC, GDC and NMC), in relation to Inquests, and in NHSE or NHS Trust disciplinary investigations.

Casework is plentiful and varied, enabling Legal Advisers to select their own cases leading to excellent opportunities for developing breadth and depth of expertise. No billing or time recording targets. Working with Medicolegal and Dentolegal Consultants in a multidisciplinary team enables a tailored approach to cases that will also help you to develop a deeper understanding of the clinical and practical aspects of healthcare. You have support from a Legal Assistant to help manage your cases from start to finish. It’s not all casework. You will be encouraged (and supported) to look for opportunities to develop and test your skills outside of casework through participation in projects that may involve collaborating with colleagues across the organisation or with external stakeholders.
