Legal Assistant (Social Care & Education) Contract: Part-Time | 3 Days per Week (Wednesday to Friday Length: temporary until Feb '27 Hourly rate: £15.82 / £17.85 PAYE , DOE Opus People Solutions are seeking a motivated and organised Legal Assistant to join Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council's Social Care and Education Team on a part-time basis. Working alongside experienced solicitors, you will provide essential legal and administrative support across a varied caseload covering childcare, adult social care and education matters. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with legal administration or paralegal experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and professional legal environment. Key Responsibilities Provide legal and administrative support to solicitors managing social care and education cases. Assist with public law pre-proceedings, care proceedings, Court of Protection matters and SEND Tribunals. Draft court applications, legal documents and correspondence to a high standard. Liaise with clients, courts, counsel, experts, partner agencies and other professionals. Request, collate and manage witness statements, disclosure materials and court documentation. Assist with the preparation, filing and service of court bundles. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with legal and departmental procedures.About You You will have: Experience working in a legal, family law or social care legal setting. Hold a qualifying law degree or graduate diploma in law and practice or have substantial experience within the childcare legal sector Knowledge of childcare law, family proceedings and court processes. Experience drafting legal documents and correspondence. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines. High levels of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems. All offers will be subject to satisfactory compliance screening, including right to work in the UK and references. If successful, candidates will be required to provide information to support the Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council's commitment to the prevention and detection of fraud.
