NC Associates are working in partnership with a
growing legal practice based in Rochdale
to recruit an experienced
Legal Credit Controller . This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Credit Controller looking to develop their career within a professional and supportive legal environment. Working closely with senior management and the fee-earning teams, you will take ownership of the firm's credit control function, ensuring invoices are raised promptly, outstanding balances are recovered efficiently and robust processes are maintained. Legal Credit Controller Responsibilities
Managing the firm's debtor ledger and monitoring outstanding balances
Proactively contacting clients regarding overdue invoices via telephone, email and written correspondence
Agreeing and monitoring appropriate payment arrangements
Escalating aged, disputed or potentially high-risk debt to senior management
Producing aged debt reports and providing commentary to management
Working closely with solicitors and fee earners to resolve outstanding balances
Supporting the implementation and maintenance of effective billing and credit control processes
Ensuring invoices are raised accurately and promptly in line with agreed client terms
Investigating and resolving billing and payment queries
Preparing cash flow information and supporting management reporting
Maintaining accurate records of all collection activity and client communications
Ensuring credit control processes operate in accordance with relevant SRA requirements and internal procedures
Identifying potential bad debt and highlighting concerns to senior management
Supporting month-end finance procedures when required
Contributing to the ongoing improvement of credit control processes
Legal Credit Controller Experience Required
To be successful in your application, you
must
have the following: Minimum of 3 years' previous Credit Control experience
Experience within a professional services or legal environment would be advantageous
Proven experience managing an aged debtor ledger
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Confidence handling challenging conversations with clients
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Strong understanding of credit control and debt recovery processes
Competent user of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
Professional, diplomatic and discreet approach when dealing with sensitive financial matters
Willingness to work fully office based in Rochdale Town Centre
Desirable: Previous experience working within a law firm
Knowledge of Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules
Experience working with legal billing systems
Professional services credit control experience
