Your new role Teaching Assistants play a crucial role in the learning journey for pupils, offering support to the class teacher where they have groups or individuals in the class who need extra help or a more tailored approach.
Typical day-to-day duties include: Liaising with the class teacher on the plan for the day Helping set up the classroom and organise relevant resources Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis once the lesson is underway, ensuring they understand their work and make the relevant progress Supporting pupils who are upset, anxious or struggling emotionally Assist with marking and record keeping Provide feedback to teachers and parents on pupil's progress and behaviour Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures Monitor pupils during break times, lunchtimes, school trips and activities Ensure children remain safe and engaged throughout the school day What you'll need to succeed As well as your Level 2 qualification, you will also need a minimum of 20 days' experience working with school-age children in the last 2 years that we can reference.
You will be patient and empathetic with good literacy and numeracy skills.
You will be an excellent communicator and be able to work in a team to ensure each child gets the support they need to progress.
