We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join their Place Team on a temporary basis for approximately 3 months. This is a great opportunity for a qualified lawyer to deliver high-quality legal advice and representation within a busy, supportive local authority legal service.
Key Responsibilities:
Handling civil litigation, including appeals under the Housing Act 2004 in the First-Tier Tribunal, with associated advocacy
Providing high-quality legal advice, assistance and representation to the Council across relevant areas of law
Advising on the interpretation and application of council policies, procedures and governance requirements
Complying with quality assurance procedures, service level agreements and performance management requirements
Contributing to a culture of learning, knowledge sharing and excellence within Legal Services
Liaising with stakeholders in a way that promotes the Council's values and behavioursSkills & Experience Required:
Qualified barrister, solicitor, or experienced Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with a full, valid practising certificate
Proven experience in civil litigation, including Housing Act 2004 appeals and First-Tier Tribunal advocacy
Licensing experience desirable but not essential
Ability to draft without supervision and manage a caseload with an appropriate level of autonomy
Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex legal arguments clearly
Strong understanding of relevant law, with the ability to keep up to date with legislative changes
