Locum Consultant Anaesthetist, special interest in Pain Management
Job summary
We are excited to invite applications for the post of Locum Consultant Anaesthetist with a specialist interest in pain management at Kingston Hospital NHS foundation Trust. We are a friendly and dynamic department with over 30 consultants, 5 of whom have a special interest in Chronic Pain management.
Kingston Hospital Pain Clinic is a well-established team of Consultants, Psychologists and Physiotherapists. We have an Acupuncturist, 2 Pain Specialist Nurses and an Alexander Technique Teacher as well as a dedicated Administrative Team.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for highly motivated individual with a special interest in chronic pain to join our thriving department. You should have completed advanced training in Chronic Pain management and preferably passed FFPMRCA or equivalent in Pain Medicine. We would like to see strong evidence of involvement in quality improvement projects and research, to support the department in these areas. Involvement in teaching and training, is also highly desirable.

Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust is a district general hospital situated in a beautiful and remarkable part of the country - close to London yet surrounded by royal parks, historic buildings and the River Thames. We are located on a single site in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey and run several outpatient clinics in neighbouring areas including Raynes Park Health Centre and Teddington Memorial Hospital.
JD has been approved by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Interview date TBC - fixed term post 12 months.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration (or eligibility to obtain).
- FRCA or equivalent
- CCT in Anaesthesia and on GMC's Specialist Register; or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration.
- Achieved competencies of RCoA advanced pain training or equivalent
Desirable
- D/FFPMRCA or equivalent in pain medicine
- Competency in regional anaesthesia
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Current wide range of experience in Chronic pain
- Expertise in interventional pain medicine
Desirable
- Advanced airway management skills
Experience in Teaching
Essential
- Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors.
Desirable
- Completed "Train the Trainers" course or equivalent
Experience in Audit
Essential
- Experience of clinical audit
Desirable
- Relevant publication in peer-reviewed journals
