Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Dermatology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The candidate for this position should ideally have expertise in General Dermatology, covering a broad range of conditions such as inflammatory, infectious, genetic, autoimmune, pigmentary, metabolic, allergic, and connective tissue dermatoses. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in common dermatological disorders, including those affecting the hair and nails, and has experience in sub-specialties like Acute dermatology, Paediatric dermatology, Genital dermatoses, Patch Testing, and Biologics.

Experience in managing Skin cancers and proficiency in dermatoscopy are essential.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work closely with our existing Dermatology team. The appointee will conduct out-patients clinics and procedures at Hertford County while providing advice to inpatients at the Lister site. Dermatology ward referral time has been built into the timetable to allow the appointee to support Dermatology ward reviews. The post holder will supervise and support our Dermatology nurses, associate specialists and specialty doctors all of whom are based at Hertford County Hospital but provide cover across the Trust sites. In addition to supporting the existing service the appointee is encouraged to propose ideas for service improvement and development

Person specification

Qualifications / Training

Essential

  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
  • College Membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level

Desirable

  • Postgraduate degree (or equivalent)

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Dermatology in particular, Experience in management of cutaneous cancer with surgical skills
  • Experience of biological treatments

Desirable

  • Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion

Clinical Governance

Essential

  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
  • Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation
